What is Discus?
Discus is a field event in track and field athletics where a heavy disc-shaped object, called a discus, is thrown by the athlete as far as possible. The discus is made of wood or metal, and has a circular shape with a diameter of 220mm (8.66 inches) for men and 180mm (7.09 inches) for women. The athlete holds the discus by the rim, and spins around before releasing it in a throwing motion. The distance that the discus is thrown is measured from the point where it lands to the inside edge of the throwing circle. Discus throwing is a test of strength, technique, and accuracy, and is considered to be one of the oldest sports in history. How to Throw A Discus
